Effigy is designed for slow, deliberate performance that lingers in the mind. Each doll looks as though it has a story of its own, stitched from worn fabrics and aged by hand. In performance, the spectator’s thoughts and emotions are woven into an unsettling narrative that ends quietly but decisively.

How it plays

The routine unfolds in three beats: The Offering, The Presence, and The Response. A spectator invests a private thought and pins it to the doll. When the pin is removed the paper is blank.Later, while the spectator holds the doll, they often report subtle sensations and a shift in mood. Finally, the doll is returned to its box and, before the lid is closed by the performer, it moves on its own.
