The effect
Effigy unfolds in three clean beats.

Phase 1: The Offering
A spectator writes something they want to be rid of. A worry, a regret, a name, a feeling. The note is pinned to the doll as an “offering” and the moment is given time to breathe.

When the note is removed later, what they wrote has vanished. The paper is blank.

Phase 2: The Presence
The spectator holds the doll and you let the atmosphere do the heavy lifting. This is where reactions happen. The routine is structured so you are not rushing to the next “move”. You are guiding a slow, unsettling escalation.

Phase 3: The Response
The doll is returned to its wooden chest. Just before the lid is closed, it responds. On its own.

This is the moment people remember.
